What is Vita Nova?
“Vita Nova” translates to “New Life” in Latin hence our tagline of breathing “new life” into the arts. We believe that the arts should feel alive, dynamic, and ever-evolving. We’re here to build a creative community that is diverse, vibrant, and sustainable.
Authenticity is the cornerstone of our endeavor. We pride ourselves on our transparency, honest collaborations, and commitment to the artists’ visions. By cultivating an environment where artists feel valued and respected, they can focus solely on their craft, allowing their creativity to flow uninhibited while we support them.
We want to put an end to the “starving artist” myth. While we all create out of love for art, passion alone doesn’t pay the bills. Artists deserve more than exposure. They deserve real respect which includes fair pay and access to resources that keep them doing what they do best.
In essence, our journey as Vita Nova is fueled by the passion to create a nurturing space where artists can flourish, where diversity is celebrated, and where authenticity and inclusivity are not just ideals, but lived principles.

Vita Nova Entertainment is currently pending their 501(c)(3) status.
Why is supporting the arts so important?
We believe that art can spark dialogue and inspire change. Our stage shows are designed to provoke thought and encourage discussions among audiences. We create spaces where people can come together to share perspectives, learn from one another, and build a more inclusive and empathetic society. By bringing these issues to the forefront through our performances, we shine a light on experiences and challenges that may otherwise go unnoticed. Our goal is to advocate for marginalized communities and educate audiences and promote greater awareness and understanding. Through powerful storytelling, we inspire our audiences to take action. Whether it's supporting a cause, changing a behavior, or simply seeing the world from a different perspective, our shows are a catalyst for positive change.
Where does the money go when I donate to your organization?
Every dollar donated goes right back into our creative community. It helps us produce more shows, pay our artists fairly, and offer workshops and opportunities that let people learn, grow, and explore their artistry. Your support keeps the arts alive and accessible for everyone.
Who runs the organization?
Our founders, Kendra “Jeanie” Carter and Chriscielle Birr are the current Artistic and Managing Directors of Vita Nova Entertainment. They are governed by the Board of Directors which is currently comprised of 3 voting members.

How can I get involved?
There are plenty of ways to join us in supporting the arts. You can volunteer at our events, attend shows, donate to help fund productions and workshops, or even just share our posts on social media! Is your Managing Director’s Instagram handle really “bigdumbassfool”? Don’t you think that’s a little unprofessional?
Vita Nova is rooted in being genuine and authentic, meaning our definition of “professionalism” may be a little unconventional.
To us, “professionalism” comes down to treating others with respect and with the understanding that we’re all human. We know how to pull out the robotic, cookie-cutter professionalism, but we pride ourselves in getting shit done while being down to earth.
We also recognize that traditional ideas of professionalism have been used to police and regulate people of color around things like tone of voice, hairstyles, clothing, and even food scents. These professional standards aren’t neutral and are rooted in systems of racial bias and exclusion. By redefining professionalism, we make our spaces more accessible, inclusive, and comfortable, encouraging everyone to show up as their full, authentic selves.
